The 49th letter: On the silence of poor people

Dear Governor Haslam:

This is my 49th letter to you.

Governor the state of Tennessee depends upon the silence of poor people. It is the only way your “solution” can survive. It is the only way that you can make the denial of medical care to over 100000 Tennesseans seem an ethical choice.

You try to tell people this is about “Obamacare.” Its not. Its about “No care.” It is not your charge or the charge of all those legislators who tried to label even the discussion of Tenn Care expansion as some of betrayal of Tennessee values to save us from Mr. Obama. It is your charge to govern fairly, humanely and ethically. Anything less than that is opportunism.

I hope more people will speak. The time for unspoken stories is over.

Governor it is on you. Please reopen the conversation on expanding Tenn Care.

Until tomorrow.

Yours truly,

Larry Drain
