The 45th letter: The illusion of choice

Dear Governor Haslam:

This is my 45th letter to you.

You believe in the illusion of choice.  You think you have a choice rather or not you pay for the healthcare of those in the “Haslam Hole.”  You don’t.  The only choice you have is how you will pay and how much misery you will allow in the process.  People will get sick still.  With your inaction they will only get sicker.  Lives will be compromised.  Families will be destroyed.  We just don’t die fast enough for you to save any real money.

All you can save is lives, but to do that you must act.  Please expand Tenn Care.

Until tomorrow.

Yours truly,

Larry Drain

  1. Larry,
Your story is so compelling and unfortunately not the only one of its kind here in Tennessee. During open enrollment for ACA, I saw person after person…family after family leave without any hope of being able to obtain insurance or adequate medical care. There is no excuse for refusing to expand Medicaid to cover ALL Americans who need it. How can we say that we are first world nation and leader in global human rights when we can’t even guarantee healthcare to all of our citizens? It is immoral for our state to refuse to accept the means provided by our federal government to care for Tennesseans.
